White Designs Stockholm Arena For 2012
White is designing the new arena along with WSP Sweden and ArupSport, who have been responsible for the design and function of a number of international arenas, including the Olympic Bird’s Nest arena in Peking.

‘The Stockholm Arena strengthens Sweden’s leading event area
‘The City Council of Stockholm’s decision regarding a multi function arena in the Globe area will make it possible to attract even more world famous artists to Sweden’s leading event area. We will also be able to arrange derbies in the Premier Division of the Swedish Football League as well as international football events. The Stockholm Arena will be a world class arena.’
Said Mats Grönlund, soon to be CEO of Stockholmsarenan AB, in a commentary to the City Council’s strategic decision as of September 8.
Stockholmsarenan AB, which is owned by the City Council of Stockholm, is responsible for design and construction of the new arena. The event company AB Stockholm Globe Arena will still be in charge of running all arenas in the Globe area.
‘In the Stockholm Arena, we will be able to arrange all kinds of fantastic events. The decision to build the Stockholm Arena is very positive for the entire Globe area and the whole Stockholm region. We are currently working on attracting future events to the new arena,’ said Ninna Engberg, CEO of Stockholm Globe Arena.
White Arkitekter is completing its assignment to design the new arena. Among the assisting consultants are the technical consulting company WSP Sverige and ArupSport which has been in charge of design and function at the construction of several world class arenas, among them the Olympic arena Bird’s Nest in Beijing.
The design work is estimated to take one year. Following a formal decision in the City Council, the construction phase of the arena will start. Throughout the process there will be an active dialogue with those living in the area, neighboring companies and other concerned parties. Soon, an information center will open in the area.
The opening of the new Stockholm Arena is estimated to take place in 2012.’

Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
