The RIBA President’s Medals 2008
The winners of the RIBA President’s Medals Student Awards were announced at a ceremony in London yesterday.
The President’s Medals are awarded annually to graduating students nominated by Schools of Architecture worldwide.
Nominated students submit their design project work either in the Part 1 or Part 2 sections, or from across the degree programme for the Dissertation Award. The Awards are judged in the autumn by a judging panel of respected international academics and practitioners and presented at an awards ceremony in late November, which coincides with the opening of an exhibition featuring winning student work.
‘The Royal Institute of British Architects has been awarding the President’s Medals since the 1850s and the awards were established in their current format in 1984.
The aim of these prestigious awards is to promote excellence in the study of architecture, to reward talent and to encourage architectural debate worldwide.
Widely regarded as the best student awards in the world, students aspire each year to be selected by their school to enter for the medals and for the opportunity for their work to be recognised and publicly exhibited. ‘
