‘Kö-Bogen, a dynamic new office and retail complex for downtown Düsseldorf by SDL, marks an important transition between urban space and landscape. Two city blocks are joined with one continuous roof line, forming a unified space for walking, shopping and working. The building will also create a connected space between the Schadowplatz and the Hofgarten, the central park in Düsseldorf.

‘The complex for Riverstone by Studio Daniel Libeskind is located in the commercial and retail ‘heart’ of New Songdo City. The complex consists of several mixed-use functions, including a shopping mall, department store, Hypermart Cinema, ice rink, food court and two pedestrian bridges. SDL is working with Gale International Korea on this project.

Daniel Libeskind’s recent project, a series of signature prefabricated homes, is a drastic change from his usual commissions. Although a smaller project (5,500 square foot), the residence strongly speaks his language of design with drastic angles, strong geometries and seamless transitions between spaces. In this ever-growing age of prefab dominance, Libeskind’s Villas will be able to be shipped to almost any location in the world within months, and will be assembled on site by a team of experts within weeks.

In Dresden, Germany, an arsenal building is undergoing a dramatic transformation as Studio Daniel Libeskind (SDL) have designed its morphosis into a Military History Museum. The museum has celebrated its topping out on October 6 and is set to open in 2010 housing an exhibition area amounting to around 20,000 sq m, becoming Dresden’s largest museum.

‘Dream Hub,’ a major international competition for the Yongsan business district of Seoul, South Korea was awarded this week to ‘Archipelago 21,’ the proposal by Studio Daniel Libeskind. The project is made up of over three million square meters of built area and will include world-class shopping, residential neighborhoods, museum, performing arts center, school, extended transit and a multitude of gardens throughout. The scheduled time-line is 15 years with a construction budget of 27 trillion KRW (20 bil. USD).
