Swimming Pool By Dierendonck Blancke Architecten & L.U.S.T Architecten

This outdoor swimming pool center by Dierendonck Blancke Architecten in association with L.U.S.T Architecten in Oostduinker, Belgium is located inbetween the city center, sea and beach. The design is integrated into the city planning in order to become a focal point and a transitional ‘urban bridge’ between the city and the beach; to be in-line with the sea.

The project was developed as a sloping planes. It appears like an artificial dune. The top surface concrete roof is in sand-colored and accessible from various directions.

Two large cutouts give place to a meadow. The position of the sunken pool creates protection against wind and sand and become the ‘lawn’ at the level of the beach.

It’s a very unique design for a swimming pool, I like that it’s right on the beach so a dune-shape makes so much sense.

  2. It must very comfortable when swimming in this swimming pool.
