‘Shed For Living’ By FKDA Architects + Designers
Manchester firm FKDA architects have sent us in images of their recently completed ‘Shed for Living‘ project. The micro home is a response to the the current economic climate where houses can be affordable and easily deliverable.
‘Our fully insulated sheds offer an alternative permanent living solution, and is ideal for first time buyers, key worker housing, student accommodation, holiday home or can be used as a home office.’
They have incorporated renewable energy systems to the building, making it possible for the shed to achieve zero carbon status. The layout of the shed is extremely efficient and compact. Directly over the kitchen and shower room is a double bed deck with ample
storage and hanging space for clothes. To maximize storage an inner ’sleeve’ has been designed that incorporates cut outs for furnishings and fittings, and elsewhere provides plenty of storage space.
This inner lining also contributes to the buildings excellent thermal performance. the (FSC Certified) timber framed walls, floor and roof are insulated using cellulose fiber (extracted from 100% recycled newspapers). The windows are all double glazed, and the shed is heated by electric underfloor heating with the option of a real wood burning fireplace.
I think this house is really a great solution for temporary living or as a cabin for holidays – I would take the green one!

This is a great solution for low income single people to own their own homes. I would be the first to buy one if NA would wake up and build some.
