Reflections // Keppel Bay // Singapore // Daniel Libeskind
‘Prominently marking the entrance to the historic Keppel Harbor, Reflections at Keppel Bay by Studio Daniel Libeskind is an entirely new expression for high-rise living and low-rise villa apartment blocks within a tropical climate.
This project will create an instant icon for the Keppel Bay horizon. SDL is currently working with Keppel Bay Pte Ltd. on the project. Model show flats are currently on display and sales for the more than 1129 apartments have already begun. The project is expected to be topped off in 2011.
Reflections at Keppel Bay will feature six glass towers and 11 villa apartment blocks along a 750-m shoreline, all with commanding views of the waterfront, golf course, parks and Mount Faber. The towers are of 24-story to 41-story heights while the villa blocks range from six-story to eight-story.
A symphony of undulating towers is the focal point of the iconic project. These sleek curving forms of alternating heights create graceful openings and gaps between the structures. The spaces between the buildings allow for views to the horizon beyond. The towers are crowned with lush sky gardens on sloping rooflines, and are linked by sky bridges, providing pockets of open spaces and platforms with near 360-degree views of the spectacular surrounds. Reflections at Keppel Bay will also showcase stunning water features such as a 100,000-square-feet reflecting pool, which brings the waters right to the doorsteps of the apartments.
The resulting composition is a creative interplay of changing planes and reflections. It will contribute immensely to Singapore’s skyline and vitality as a world class city.’

Yes. It can only be another piece of garbage from Studio Daniel Libeskind.
It looks like Daniel Libeskind was so impressed by the low-brow, populist crap he saw in Las Vegas that he decided to design some of the same theme park drivel for Seoul.
Never ceases to amaze me how crass, pretentious and obnoxious…the reviewers of architecture are.

Constructive criticicm always has a place, but this type of drivel is a waste of space, its as useful as me asking:
Whassa matter, got dropped on your head as a baby or turned down for a job at SDL?
It looks like some developer tried to dress up a high density scheme with a few gimmicks. I don’t see any underlying architectural idea here. Libeskind, as usual, resorts to formal novelty at the expense of regional sympathy or substantive ideology.
