Proposal For The Italian Pavilion // Expo 2010 // Shanghai // China // Bicuadro Architects

Bicuadro Architects have received third prize for their Italian pavilion, which is to be presented at Expo Shanghai 2010. The overall design is based on stratigraphy, a geological study which looks at layers of rock formations. The building itself consists of plates which are lined up to physically, as well as metaphorically, represent the multiple layers of history, life and culture which is found in urban Italy.

The winning proposal was designed by Giampaolo Imbrighi.
