The RuralZED Zero Emission Home // ZedFactory

The British government recently launched a new super stringent green building rating system called The Code For Sustainable Homes. Code Six is the level that all new residences in the UK will be required to achieve in 2016, and is, for all intents and purposes, a requirement that all new homes emit no carbon emissions. Now greenbuilding company ZedFactory has taken it upon themselves to create a code six, zero-emission prefab home. In an attempt to reconceptualize the idea of what a super-efficient home should be, ZEDfactory introduced the RuralZED, which they claim is Britain’s most affordable green prefab home and is also able to meet its strictest energy standards.

The Flatpak House // Prefab By Lazor Office

Prefab and modular designs come with a basic requirement: Their components can be no wider than twelve to fourteen feet, or what can fit on a flatbed truck. The Flatpak House, as its name indicates, gets around that constraint with panels, not modules. Made of glass, concrete, metal, wood, or cement fiberboard, with different colors and finishes, the Flatpak panels are basically sheet goods, which are manufactured in the U.S. to a standard eight-foot width. The cedar cladding panels on the Flatpak prototype, for instance, are more commonly used for high-end garage doors, says Lazor.

Tetris Apartments // Ljubljana // Slovenia // Ofis Arhitekti

In October 2007, Slovenian architects Ofis have completed Tetris Apartments, a social housing development in Ljubljana.

Some Information about the project from the architects’ website:

The location is on the edge of the planned 650 apartments which was finished year ago.
Also this apartment block is social type and was sold to Slovenian Housing fund. The cost per square meter had to be 650 EUR/m2 since the selling cost was 1200EUR/m2.

Biomedical Research Park Barcelona // Manel Brullet & Albert de Pineda

PRBB building has a total surface of more than 55.000 m2 and is located at a 9000 m2 site at Barcelona’s seafront by the Barceloneta beach, between Hospital del Mar and Arts hotel in the Olympic Village. It is a 117×74 meters building of 9 floors above and 3 floors under ground with elliptical shape and a high level of functional polyvalence. The building project has been carried out by a team of two prestigious architects: Manel Brullet and Albert de Pineda, to create a building that adopts the specific objectives of PRBB.
