The enterprise Wallfit is presenting an absolute novelty: solid walls that are suited for passive houses and are prefabricated industrially. The first solid passive house off the assembly line will shortly be built in Bernsdorf, situated in the German region of Upper Lusatia. This is an extraordinarily interesting subject for all those who have little time for house building, but nevertheless wish to watch energy balance. The basics for the calculation of the building with the Wallfit system patent were made up by the Passive House Institute Dr. Feist in Darmstadt.

Tenerife Arts Space by Herzog & de Meuron Officially Opened

Herzog & de Meuron’s Tenerife Arts Space (TEA) has been inaugurated in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Sponsored by the island’s regional government, the 21,000sq m facility has been in development since 1999.
Herzog & de Meuron described the centre as ‘…not only a place of encounter for people, but also a place of intersection for the landscape of the contemporary city, the old city … and the archaic topography of the Barranco.’

MVRDV And ADEPT Win Copenhagen Competition With Design ‘Sky Village’

The municipality of Rødovre, an independent municipality of Copenhagen, Denmark, announced today MVRDV and co-architect ADEPT winner of the design competition of the Rødovre Skyscraper. The 116 meter tall tower accommodates apartments, a hotel, retail and offices. A public park and a plaza are also part of the privately funded scheme.

Studio Daniel Libeskind was presented with the award on Thursday, October 30 at the Heritage Ball 2008, a black-tie gala where nearly 1,300 people from the design, construction, engineering and real estate professions came together to acknowledge those making an important impact in their respective industries.
