Yesterday, the architects Hilary Sample and Michael Meredith (MOS) have won the annual competition to transform the courtyard at P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City, Queens.
Their project, titled ‘afterparty,’ is a mix of what could be described as cones, domes, smokestacks, primitive huts, towers or industrial chimneys.

In 2003, Toxteth Church was sitting derelict in the Sydney, Australia neighborhood of Glebe, it was at this time that the church, which was originally built in 1898, was sold to new owners who hired the architects at Otto Cserhalmi + Partners to design a residential recreation that would turn it into a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom home.
Last week, the results of the second phase of the competition to build the Performing Arts Center in Taipei, Taiwan have been unveiled. This is the proposal from the 2nd phase by Spanish architects Ábalos + Sentkiewicz.
The two-phase international competition for the new Performing Arts Centre in Taipei included more than 100 offices from around the world. The competition was won by OMA. Read more here.
The Danish firm Henning Larsen architects has been announced the winner in a competition for university campus in Kolding, Denmark.

In August 2008, South Bank Employers’ Group announced the four shortlisted design teams selected to progress to the second and final stage of the Design Team Competition to create a vision for Waterloo City Square. The intention is to transform this key central London site from a series of complex and confusing subways circling the BFI IMAX into a unified, high quality public space. The new square will simplify pedestrian routes and ease interchanges at one of the capital’s busiest transport hubs.
