For the third consecutive year, schmidt hammer lassen architects (SHLA) have landed a MIPIM AR Future Project Award, this time in the ‘Mixed Use’ category.
Their winning project is a proposal for the Holbaek City Harbour Masterplan including a new ‘DGI City’ – a sports complex concept developed by the Danish Gymnastics and Sports Associations.

This project by Dominique Perrault Architecture is located on the Kirchberg Platform, Luxembourg and currently in progress. It results from an invited international competition held in 1996. Start of conceptual design was back in June 2002 and the construction started in April 2004. Estimated completion is due in 2009.

Dan Hisel projected and built himself this sauna located in a forest near the Saranac River in upstate New York.

‘The Cadyville Sauna was designed and constructed along the Saranac River in upstate New York.  It is a compact structure, covered with mirrors. It is built up against a cliff, and the wall of rock forms one interior wall of the sauna.  Twenty feet below the sauna the river coils into a deep and powerful whirlpool, spinning reflections of sunlight back up on the rocks around it and the Sauna above it.’

The Push Button House by Adam Kalkin is a shipping container until you push a button that turns the container into a house.

The container has motorized walls that unfolds like a flower, revealing a fully functional house, complete with refined, understated furnishing.

Mass Studies recently finished the design of Ann Demeulemeester Shop in the Seoul’s Gangnam district, Korea.

The building is comprised of one subterranean level and three floors above. The Ann Demeulemeester Shop is located on the first floor, with a restaurant above and a Multi-Shop in the basement.

The winning project of the ‘Architectural Record’s Future Project Award‘ in the category ‘Overall Winner’ is ‘360º Building’ by Isay Weinfeld. To be erected in Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil, where currently over 10 million people live spread over 1,525 sq km the building creates an alternative to the typically overcrowded and compact stacked apartments.
