‘The architects Herzog & de Meuron designed an unusual space for Schaulager. Their task was to design a warehouse for the open storage of contemporary art that had optimal climatic conditions and was available by appointment. The building was also intended to be a site for conservation, research and dissemination. Rather than an anonymous warehouse, the spacious building was to be conceived so as to produce a specific and unique place.

Jean Nouvel has designed a 12-pool swimming complex as part of a €31m masterplan to regenerate the docklands of Le Havre, on France’s Normandy coast. Called Les Bains des Docks, the public baths comprise an outdoor Olympic-size pool alongside a network of interconnected lagoon-style leisure pools.

This building, which opens to the public in March, is intended to be a neutral meeting point for Israelis and Palestinians, but although it will contain memorials to Nobel Peace Prize winners, it’s far from just a museum. It has a library, conference and office space, and recreational and sports facilities. The structure of the Peres Peace House is layered concrete and glass.

As one of five international architecture firms invited by Kohinoor CTNL Infrastructure Co. Ltd. to participate in a design competition to create a mixed-use urban development in Mumbai, India, Perkins Eastman submitted two bold approaches—one, a singular 33-storey, 1.16M sq ft (108,000 sq m) high-rise tower and two-storey retail base; the other, a low- and mid-rise, 750,000 sq ft (69,700 sq m) two building scheme. Each is a visionary catalyst for smart, green urban development that establishes an iconic sense of place amid juxtapositions of traditional and modern India.
