This masterplan for a 2 million square meters has been announced for the city of Milan in order to densify the area Segrate located some 7 kilometers from the center of the city. This mega-project called ‘Milano Santa Monica’ includes 2000 housing spaces equipped with a full program of services including schools, sports centers, trade and play areas, among others.

This proposal contains a comprehensive efficiency plan that aims to put emphasis on the energy generated inside the building, occupying also the beginning of bio-architecture. The plan does not specify the buildings in detail, but the housings will be enhanced by vegetated terraces, plus the use of solar panels which are used for heating systems delivering water and electricity.

The project is carried out by Polis Engineering of Milan, the Rome Studio Nicoletti and studying architecture Mazorati awaiting construction by 2013.
