Menis Arquitectos Wins Competition For Auditorium & Congress Hall In Fuerteventura
Menis Arquitectos wins the competition for the Auditorium and Congress Hall Pajara in Fuerteventura (for Morro Jable) with the entry called ‘Paisaje telurico’. At the competition organized by the City Hall of Pajara participated 26 international teams.
The building, embedded in the terrain, emerges through the excavation creating a strong geometric presence. Textures, colors and finishes help emphasize the earthly tone of the structure and make it appear to be a part of the site.
‘Located in a privileged position, above the beaches at South Fuerteventura, the building emerges through the excavation and the mimesis with the site. Textures, colors and finishes answer to this aim, creating a piece which recalls a broken rock, coming away from earth.
It is a sponge building, able to adapt to different situations and events, flexible, equipped with well balanced acoustics also prepared for different types of events, designed for low energetical and maintaining costs.’
The project is set for completion in 2012.
