International Recognition For USA Based Trade Show Designer
David Cogswell, Principal of Cogswell Design Inc. (formerly Creative Director of Premier Displays) has been recognized for his creative work on the Spyder Active Sports exhibits in “Frame Magazines – “Grand Stand II – Best of International Design 2008.
A slatted beacon for partygoers and buyers alike, the 2400 square feet exhibit that David Cogswell designed for Spyder Active’s presentation at the SnowSports show (SIA 2007) was a vehicle for launching Spyder Venom ski apparel.
A modular, reconfigurable structure with aluminum fixtures, bamboo surfaces and interchangeable graphics, the multi-level booth envisioned by Cogswell, embraced modern architectural style and sustainable materials to invoke an eco-friendly ski lodge feel to the exhibit – a cool hang out for celebrities, Spyder employees and guests.
Aware of Spyder’s commitment to eco-friendly products, Cogswell used recycled aluminium and carpet, bamboo from sustainable forests, water-based glues and the environmentally friendly powder-coating technique to all aluminum framing.
The result was brand architecture that promoted a revolution within Spyder Active Sports and captured Event Design magazine’s Best Exhibit of 2007 award, breaking the mould for conventional trade fair design in the USA.
Following the success of Spyder Venom, Cogswell turned his attentions to the new Spyder Core exhibit for this years 2008 show. Over 11,000 square feet, the new Spyder Core exhibit led the way in innovative design details through LED lighting within the floors, AV plasma presentations, custom cut aluminum paneling, an illuminated custom double deck for prestige apparel and custom fabric structures forming 3D architectural branding.
All the elements made for a show-stopping exhibit, a hallmark of Cogswell’s style and philosophy, which he now brings to Cogswell Design Inc.
The exhibit took “Best of Show” awarded by the SnowSports Organization and both booths have appeared this month in Frame Magazine’s “Grand Stand II” volumes, highlighting the “Best of International Designs for 2008″.
