Fire Destroyed OMA’s Television Cultural Center In Beijing

These are photos of Office for Metropolitan Architecture’s Television Cultural Center in Beijing, which was destroyed by fire last night.

The 40-story building is adjacent to the China Central Television Headquarters.

The almost-complete building was due to open in mid-May and contain a hotel, a theater and several studios. It was used for the 2008 Olympics but due to open officially later this year.

The structure was set on fire by stray fireworks fired by revellers celebrating Chinese New Year.
