Donaghy + Dimond Architects Win West Cork Arts Center’s Architectural Design Competition
The anonymous completion received 216 entries, including a number from prestigious UK and international firms.
Located in the town of Skibbereen, the West Cork Arts Center will house a number of local galleries, studios, performances spaces and workshops to serve the community. the new building features a distinct facade that is clad in weathered steel.
The following is from the Donaghy + Dimond Architects:
‘A new and identifiable form reestablishes the relationship of street, porch, backlands and water, generating a new place for Skibbereen.
Galleries, studios, performance spaces and workshops are wrapped in a weathering steel skin. The building adapts to the site to create new public and semi-public spaces for the town.’
