Dancing Apartments By Unsangdong Architects

‘Dancing Apartment’, located in South Korea, has been designed by Korean firm Unsangdong Architects. The apartments are built using oblique
lines in which each unit consists of a terrace.

The building consists of various community spaces which include parks, leisure facilities, event space, a library, media space and performance space.

From the architects:

‘Dancing apartments becomes terrace of nature. I inadvertently thought that I could make a three-dimensional apartment when I saw the movie Transformers, in which robots transform into cars and vice versa.
A three-dimensional apartment would add variety to life. If existing apartments are built oblique lines in which each unit would be made of a natural terrace. As such, the apartment would seem to be dancing, providing an enjoyable view and breath of fresh air by making three-dimensional terraces of various sizes in each unit.

If would be created as if a vertical skin of land by vertical mountains. The intention is to lifestyle of the inhabitant, the terraces can be decorated like a greenhouse, a spa, a flower garden, or an exercise space.(…)’
